Area of Work: Arts
Grant Purpose: WomanFilms Documentary Film Hub
The New Fund for Cinema and Television (NFCT) is an Israeli nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides financial and professional support to filmmakers for the production of documentary and narrative films. NFCT runs a number of film development hubs, including two programs that focus on women filmmakers, highlighting women’s voices about their own communities and realities and increasing understanding and tolerance towards women and minorities.
Purpose: To support the WomanFilms Documentary Film Hub (formerly Greenhouse Program for Jewish and Arab Women Documentary Filmmakers)
In 2014 the New Fund for Cinema and Television started the Greenhouse Program for Jewish and Arab Women Documentary Filmmakers to convene and amplify women documentary filmmakers from diverse religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds from Israel. Each year, the program brings together 10-12 talented women filmmakers and supports them in the development of compelling documentary films. The program has so far yielded ten films that have been showcased and often won awards at high profile film festivals and on TV. Many more films are in various stages of production.
In 2020, the Greenhouse Program was renamed the WomanFilms Documentary Film Hub.
