Grant Purpose: Blue Star Arts in New York City
Founded by military spouses, Blue Star Families is a national organization that brings together military families, veteran families, and their neighbors to create stronger communities and networks of support.
Purpose: To support Blue Star Families’ Craig Newmark New York Tri-State Chapter, which focuses on strengthening military families by connecting them to their community through programming focused on arts, wellness, and service.
The Illumination Fund’s grant proudly includes Blue Star Museums, which provides events and programming for military families at 25 NYC-based museums and cultural institutions. Cultural partners include the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, Children’s Museum of Manhattan, and Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
Over 3,800 military family members and their civilian neighbors are part of the New York Tri-State Chapter, and that number continues to grow every year.
