Overview
Roundabout celebrates the power of theater by spotlighting classics from the past, cultivating new works of the present and educating minds for the future.
Grant
Purpose: To support Roundabout’s Access and Education programs.
Roundabout’s education programs provide hands-on learning for disadvantaged students in New York City public schools, career development programs mentoring the next generation of theater artists, technicians and administrators, especially those who would not otherwise be able to afford training, and free or reduced price tickets to low-income New Yorkers.
Impact
During the 2019-2020 season, Roundabout education programs served more than 24,000 students, educators, community members and patrons. Including 3,250 students in 21 NYC public schools, 861 educators, 213 young people in career training programs, and free or discounted tickets and wraparound programming for thousands of students and educators across NYC, the United States, and internationally. In 2020-2021, the New York City Department of Education chose Roundabout, in partnership with Carnegie Hall, the 92nd Street Y, and Studio in a School, to provide remote arts education for the upcoming school year, serving 1.1 million students at over 1,800 New York City schools.
