Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center

Overview

The mission of Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center is to provide high-quality arts education for youth. Founded in 1978 and based in the North East Bronx, they have helped more than 10,000 children and youth blossom and grow by providing opportunities to gain artistic skills, practice leadership skills, and learn to creatively express themselves in a nurturing and supportive space.

Purpose: To support their arts education programs

Mind-Builders offers more than 200 weekly classes in music, dance, theater, folk culture, African Art docentry, and the recording arts. Mind-Builders provides the main and sometimes only arts education and arts experience for youth in the neighborhood due to lack of funding in their schools. Mind-Builders serves youth from the local Olinville, Wakefield, Williamsbridge and Norwood neighborhoods, which are predominantly an African American, Caribbean, and African, with growing Hispanic and Middle-Eastern populations.
