Whitney Museum

Sustaining Commitment

The Whitney Museum of American Art houses one of the world’s foremost collections of 20th century American art. The Permanent Collection of some 12,000 works encompasses paintings, sculptures, multimedia installations, drawings, prints, and photographs and is still growing. Arts education has always been a central part of the Whitney’s mission, and the new Laurie M. Tisch Education Center will be a hub of activity when they move to the new downtown location.

Opening in 2015, the Education Center will be located between the public entrance and the Whitney’s galleries near New York City’s Highline park, so program participants can move easily from exhibitions into the Education Center, creating opportunities for Whitney educators to extend their gallery-based teaching with artmaking activities, demonstrations, and in-depth study and discussion.
