New York Community Trust

Overview:

For decades, The New York Community Trust (The NYCT) has brought funders together to address complex issues facing New York and beyond. Established in 2018 at The NYCT, the Mosaic Network & Fund (Mosaic) is a first-of-its-kind collaborative, bringing together 27+ foundations and major donors, with the goal to provide more equitable funding for African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) arts groups in New York City.

Grant:

Purpose: To support the Mosaic Network and Fund.

In 2020, the Mosaic Network and Fund committed $4.5 million in grants to 27 ALAANA arts and culture groups in New York City.

These three-year grants range from $21,000 to $300,000 and will help arts groups commission and develop artists of color, build archives to preserve significant cultural assets, expand training and education programs for young people, and strengthen their operations.

Impact:

To date, almost $17 million has been raised for Mosaic, with approximately $10 million allocated in direct grants to ALANNA arts groups.
